UGANDA
About Us

Tender Mercies International (TMI) is a humanitarian organization with a mission to eradicate poverty in Uganda through education, relief, and advocacy.
With the support of Lifechange, RIM and other donors, TMI offers scholarships to help orphans and destitute children access quality education.
The sponsorship targets rural areas in uganda and covers a child's education from nursery to the last class in secondary school (S6). It also caters for basic school and home requirements.

As an Organization, we believe that education is the key to a better future. This doesn't mean formal education only. Hand skills are very important. If COVID-19 lockdown taught us anything, it's that people with such skillz are indeed essential workers. TMI skills the youth in tailoring, mechanics and hairstyling.

Having conversations about community issues is the first step to solving them. We conduct dialogues in schools and communities that tackle topics surrounding mental health, domestic violence and any other relevant topic. This is important in creating awareness and tackling issues.

Phionah, TMI alumni
I was only 5 years old when i was enrolled into the TMI educate program. Not only me but 3 of my other siblings were lucky enough to get this opportunity.Fast forward to 2021, I have graduated from fashion school. My dream career. Candee, my sponsor, i love so much. You do not know how broken my life was when you chose me, and my words may never explain how your care for me for over 14 years has changed my life.

Mwarabu. TMI parent
The wars and conflict in my country, Congo, had me frightened about my family. I have three beautiful girls and a little boyand I didn't want them to live through the same trauma that I did so we fled Congo too seek a better life in Uganda. Being a refugee isn't easy. There is always that uncertainity in your thoughts. My children's education has not been one of the thoughts that keep me up because TMI is educating three of my children. I am grateful

Ivan, community resident
Ndejje and Nankinga are communities that were once looked at as hopeless, backward and uneducated. With many children and their parents living in unimagnable conditions. They now boast of educated children with majority of the households having had over three children enrolled in TMI educate program as well as benefiting from the community projects such as youth skilling, financial literacy classes and many more.
